Why do I need to register with the Human Rights commission? I’m not quite sure what this has to do with human rights
The SAHRC is known as the custodian of rights in this country. The Government chose them because they are independent of Government. It’s a reaction against Apartheid to promote transparency in the new democracy.
If this is about Access to Information … what business information does the government need to know about me?
Government requires only basic information, like contact details, physical and postal address, etc.
Do even Sole Proprietors need to register?
Yes, even Sole-Proprietors. In fact even if you run a flea-market stall from your car boot you’re required to register.
How much does this cost, do I have to use Total Compliance?
You do not have to register with Total Compliance. There are many agencies who can register you with the SAHRC and their fees range anywhere up to R3000 for the registration. Total Compliance charges a once-off fee or R570.00
